The annual New Hampshire Professional Photographers Association (NHPPA) was held April 24th-27th and included a print competition that was open to all active members of NHPPA or any other Professional Photographers of America (PPA) affiliate organization. Entrants were allowed to submit up to 5 images. This year, 193 images were presented to a juror panel of very distinguished and highly qualified Master Photographers, including the President of PPA. Needless to say, it was a tough panel of judges. Only 48 images (less than 25%) earned the coveted Blue Ribbon, and only 8 images scored higher than a Blue Ribbon.
I captured The Mother Ship image with a fisheye lens while traveling in Norway. It was not created in Photoshop nor was it altered or manipulated in Photoshop other than applying applying typical "digital darkroom" adjustments. I will say that it aroused the interest and curiosity of the judges who called it back 2 additional times after its initial judging in order to discuss it more and eventually all vote to award it a Blue Ribbon Merit. :-) Nikon D300. 10.5 f/2.8 Fisheye Lens.
